Eleven large cloud image cushions on long poles are installed along the former Iron Curtain that passed through Mödlareuth and inside the VHS Hof. Pigment print on netted textile, plastic tubes, and silver emergency blankets. Dimensions variable between 1,5 metres and 3 metres high, and 60 cm to 100 cm wide.
Wishes, dreams, and hopes are currently a central part of my artistic exploration. While researching this project, I was moved by the historical images and stories of people interacting with the border and protesting to challenge it. It was the place to focus on their wishes and dreams. Each cloud is a symbol of hope as they dare to get close to the forbidden zone. Each cloud is a tribute to everyone who dreamed of crossing the border, to those who lost their lives trying, to those who made successful crossings, and to those who welcomed them on the other side.
Funded by BBK Verbindungslinien.
