TREES TO THE SKIES
Wrap your arms around your favourite tree, close your eyes and make a wish. These are the instructions on how to use this art installation to bring focus on your dreams. Each tree is like a monumental divining rod. "Trees to the Skies", a temporary public artwork, invites viewers to focus on the forest and hopefully it provides a new experience of nature.
Nine large trees with distinctive forks are wrapped in red coloured ecological jute fabric up to a height of 6 to 9 metres, transforming them into wishing trees. The selected trees are scattered throughout the forest to create an art experience trail.
This project was funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and Culture, 'Kunst für uns' program for art in public places and the Bezirksausschuss 13 Bogenhausen, City of Munich.

PLAYING WITH NATURE
Playing with Nature was made during the international summer academy in Salzburg while working in the historic quarry in Untersberg. Sound, movement and the tactile quality of stone are a key part of this sculpture and it can be played like an instrument. I chose stones that looked like fossilised icebergs. To highlight the fragile balance in nature I decided to drill and cut through the stones. From the moment they were split the balance was lost. Trying to regain the balance is hard work. This is a metaphor for our relationship to nature. For me it’s important that this work is interactive.

YEARNING
Yearning - Sehnsucht, an outdoor/indoor sculptural installation, 360 degree video performance, artist book, 2023.
Eleven large cloud image cushions on long poles are installed along the former Iron Curtain that passed through Mödlareuth and inside the Volkshochschule Hof. Pigment print on netted textile, plastic tubes, and silver emergency blankets. Dimensions variable between 1,5 metres and 3 metres high, and 60 cm to 100 cm wide.
Wishes, dreams, and hopes are currently a central part of my artistic exploration. While researching this project, I was moved by the historical images and stories of people interacting with the border and protesting to challenge it. It was the place to focus on their wishes and dreams. Each cloud is a symbol of hope as they dare to get close to the forbidden zone. Each cloud is a tribute to everyone who dreamed of crossing the border, to those who lost their lives trying, to those who made successful crossings, and to those who welcomed them on the other side.

WISHING ON THE WIND
“Wishing on the Wind” is as part of the Mycelia artist collaboration for Mark Rothko Art Centre in Daugavpils, Latvia. The work is a story about communication and invites people to touch it and move the ceramic pieces along copper rods to create sounds. The structure is inspired by a Russian abacus but also looks like a three-dimensional musical score. It is constructed from metal and birch wood poles in the form of the infinity symbol.
Wishing on the Wind, 2022, digital wall work and interactive sculpture, birchwood, copper, clay, 250 x 300 cm; 400 x 800 cm.

IN MEMORIUM: A68 AND HER CHILDREN I & II
In July 2017 I read that a 5,800 km2 tabular iceberg, the same size as the state of Kerala in India and twice the size of Luxembourg, had calved from the Larsen ice shelf in Antarctica. This massive 200 metres thick floating sheet of ice had slowly cracked off and the process was observed and documented by space-based satellites. After that, the iceberg got the name A-68 and was continually tracked as it moved north into open sea. Along the way, as the salty seawater mixed with the fresh water of the iceberg, pieces would calve off. These are the iceberg children A-68 A, B, C to M. I have been following the path of this iceberg since the beginning, regularly checking in to see how many children it had and where it was moving too. Then just before the exhibition I read that, on the 16th of April 2021, “A-68” had become so mushy on the inside that after more than 4 years adrift, it finally broke up into thousands of small pieces and disappeared.

THREE WISHES - Summer and Winter
Three Wishes installation in Summer, 2017, Süd-Park, Munich. Part of the SüdpART Festival.
Three Wishes installation in Winter I-II, 2017.
SüdpArt is an bi-annual art project dedicated to the restoration of a city forest. Artists are only allowed to use natural materials or organic matter found on the forest floor to create their artworks. ‘Three Wishes’ land art installation creates a space of contemplation incorporating the symbols of a triangle and divining rods, to define a magical space amongst the trees. These large divining rods inject their energy into the forest floor. Within the triangle of the trees, a new space is defined. People can enter the space from the path to contemplate the forest and make a wish, or two or three.

MEXICO
Performance - GUACAMOLE
Paintings, artist book, performance and installation developed after a trip to Mexico. Every day of the trip I drew a pattern based on my experiences and things I had seen during that day. I was surprised that the more patterns I drew the more they mirrored the typical forms and patterns found in Mexican culture. The project ended up being a reflection on cultural stereotypes.

LIMPIO DE SANGRE
Limpio de Sangre literally means 'clean of blood' and in the colonial times in Colombia it meant 'blue-blooded' or of noble blood. It was used to clarify that someone had no indigenous or slave heritage. This work is constructed from panela –raw sugar blocks– and gold leafed lettering.

GO WITH THE FLOE
A series of paintings and objects in several iterations made while thinking about the big ice melt in the arctic and icebergs calving in Antarctica while tracking breakaway icebergs like A68. Is this happening because of climate change?
