Playing with Nature
Playing with Nature was made during the international summer academy in Salzburg while working in the historic quarry in Untersberg. Sound, movement and the tactile quality of stone are a key part of this sculpture. Here I am playing it. I chose the stones because they looked like little fossilised icebergs. To highlight the fragile balance in nature I decided to drill and cut the stones. From the moment they were split the balance was also lost. Trying to regain the balance is hard work. This is a metaphor for our relationship to nature. For me it’s important that this work is interactive.
