Guacamole Performance in Spring at Galerie JPG in Marburg
The Guacamole Performance was conceived as part of the Mexico series. I want to give viewers a real taste of Mexico to enhance the experience of the paintings. I believe food is an entry point into the work.
During the performance, I dress a bit like a Mexican woman who is demonstrating something on TV. I cut the limes, scrape out the avocado, snip coriander and mash it all together in a stone mortar with a pestle. All the smells and aromas of the ingredients fill the gallery space. Afterwards, all the exhibition guests are invited to taste the Guacamole.
