‘Mexico’ pop-up art exhibition
Penelope Richardson shows her work in the Mrs.Sporty München-Bogenhausen fitness studio.
‘Mexico’ is an artist book and a series of paintings inspired by a trip through Mexico, a visit to Frida Kahlo’s and Diego Rivera’s homes and studios as well as modern and ancient Mexican cultures.
The work uses high key fluorescent colours reminiscent of Mexican modernist architecture and folk art. I developed the patterns and forms from the sketches and drawings I made while travelling.
The book launch and exhibition will be accompanied by a performance ‘Guacamole’ – a live demonstration of how to make the best dip in the world.
The hand-made artist book contains 22 new decorative motifs inspired by Mexican culture and was printed entirely on the artists Risograph.
As is the nature of pop-ups, this is a one day exhibition in the fitness studio on 25th March 2017 at Mrs.Sporty München-Bogenhausen, Englschalkinger Str. 198, 81927 München.
The exhibition is open from 2 pm to 6 pm on the day or you can contact the artist for a private viewing in her studio.
